Better Yourself UK LGBTQ Policy

Introduction

At Better Yourself, we believe that everyone is equal and should be treated with respect and dignity at all times. We are committed to providing inclusive services that promote equality, diversity and inclusion of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community.

We recognize that our customers come from a variety of backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identities. Our staff members also reflect this diversity. We strive to provide an environment free of discrimination, harassment or judgement. This policy outlines our commitment to embracing the principles of equality and inclusivity within our workplace.

Discrimination & Harassment Prevention

At Better Yourself, we will not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment based on race, gender identity or expression, age, religion or beliefs, sexual orientation or any other personal characteristics protected by applicable laws. Our zero-tolerance policy applies to all aspects of our services including employment opportunities and customer interaction.

If any employee experiences discrimination or harassment in the course of their work duties they should report it immediately and confidentially to the Managing Director or Senior Manager who will investigate the complaint thoroughly. If found guilty of such an offence then appropriate disciplinary action will be taken up to and including dismissal from the company.

Accessibility & Allyship

Better Yourself is committed to making sure that everyone can access our services no matter their individual circumstances. Our staff have been trained in universal access principles as well as understanding additional needs for people with disabilities.
For LGBTQ customers we ensure all-gender restrooms are provided onsite when possible as well as safe spaces for those experiencing loneliness or distress due to prejudice or discrimination.
We commit ourselves to being proactive allies in combatting homophobia, transphobia and biphobia both at work and inside our local community. We support anti-discrimination campaigns such as LGBT History Month Celebrations as well as raising awareness leaflets distributed within local businesses.
Equal Opportunities

At Better Yourself we strive towards ensuring equal opportunities for all regardless of lifestyle choices within recruitment activities through training of interviewers & assessments processes. Furthermore we provide a detailed job description so candidates can determine whether they meet the requisite criteria before they apply.
Our internal promotion policies take into account merit rather than personal relationships which means anyone meeting the criteria can apply regardless of sexual orientation.

Any grievances raised through whistleblowing channels are assessed objectively without prejudice towards anyone’s demographic background.
In conclusion Better Yourself actively promotes an inclusive working culture where individuals feel valued for their contributions regardless if disagreement may arise over differing lifestyles & viewpoints in accordance with UK legislation covering Equality Act 2010 & Human Rights Act 1998/99.
